Zendaya has been shopping in Sydney’s hipster suburb Newtown

Hollywood ‘it’ girl Zendaya has been shopping in Sydney’s hipster suburb Newtown.

Newtown is the land of expensive oat milk lattes, cool vintage stores and men with mullets and moustaches.

It is a bit of a hipster wonderland, but often when celebrities come to Australia they head to Sydney’s eastern or northern suburbs to soak up the sun and enjoy the beautiful beaches on offer.

Zendaya, 27, in typical cool girl fashion, has been seen lunching in Bondi, but she has also headed to the inner west and popped into Newtown’s popular Irreplaceable Store, a vintage clothing shop.

She kept it casual in a white singlet and maxi skirt.

The store posted about Zendaya’s visit on its Instagram, which has over 11,000 followers, and people were excited to see an A-lister hanging in Newtown.

“Big news,” one person claimed.

“I can’t believe she was in Newtown, of all places,” another wrote.

“Absolute insanity,” someone said.

The actor is in town promoting her new movie, Challengers, which she both starred in and produced.

She kicked off the press tour in Australia by earning huge cheers from the hundreds-strong crowd of fans as she made her appearance at Sydney’s State Theatre.

People reported that Zendaya’s glittering, plunging green gown was custom Loewe by Jonathan Anderson.

She has already posted on Instagram to her 184 million followers to thank them for their support.

“Thank you, Sydney, for the warm and beautiful welcome; it means so much,” she wrote.

Knowing where she’s been shopping in Australia is particularly exciting for fans because she is considered a style icon, and where she shops and what she buys instantly become trendy and cool.

When she was announced as Louis Vuitton’s ambassador last year, she opened up to Vogue about her approach to fashion.

“I just enjoy clothes, playing with them, and creating new characters. That’s what I find fun about fashion — its transformative quality, its ability to be like storytelling,” she said.
